The Lonely Island - Incredibad
Monday, February 09, 2009

You may or may not have heard rumors about members of The Lonely Island being on a boat, mother fucker. Well let me just get the truth out here: the only person who has actually been on a boat is T-Pain. You can just hear the sincerity in his auto-tuned voice.

The Lonely Island - Incredibad
The album's second track features rapper E-40, in a alternate world where Carlos Santana made his own champagne, a product they keep mentioning throughout the album, and it's pretty awesome to have a recurring joke on a CD. The third song is a great one pretty much starring Jack Black, and contains some hilarious materal at the end with JB making some awesome sounds with his voice. A few interludes do a good job of changing up the pace, with "The Old Saloon" hitting comedy gold making fun of mixtapes and DJ's using sound clips of their names over perfectly good songs. The tracks on this album have some catchy beats with hilarious rhymes that are even spit pretty damn smoothly for a bunch of white boys.
The last track on Incredibad is the self-titled epic of the story of the Lonely Island guys at 13, playing Punch Out for NES, and the following alien encounter that happened, fully explaining not only where the title and artwork came from, but how these guys became so skilled in the first place. Best of all I can almost guarantee you'll laugh at least once per track, and it's good for multiple listens with all of the lyrics you'll miss while laughing, and for those not buying digital copies, your CD comes with an extra DVD with some videos for other classic songs. The biggest problem with Incredibad is its lack of new content. About half of the songs that we've been seeing over the course of the past four seasons of SNL are on here. Favorites like "Jizz in my pants", "Lazy Sunday", "Natalie Raps", "Ras Trent", "Dick in a Box", "Space Olympics", and even the most recent short, "I'm on a Boat", all appear on the album. Which, on top of three Interludes, doesn't leave much room for a lot of new songs, but all of the extra space is filled up with tracks featuring guests like Julian Casablancas from the Strokes, and Norah Jones.
Even though some of these songs have been out since 2005, anyone who hasn't heard them will still laugh. For the next album, I can only hope for less material to be on SNL, but for the time being, with the release of this CD, The Lonely Island's place as America's 4th most popular rap trio has been set. With their creative style, and genius insight of pop culture jokes, the buzz is spreading fast, and who knew a song about being on a boat could be so amazing?

Hilariously, Santana DVX isn't made up. It's real.

Haha that's so funny. I didn't even try to look it up cause of how fake it sounded. E-40 as Santana is still great though.
